View Full Version : picked up new 180...have some questions..wet/dry...r/o unit...

so i got a 180 with stand. hood lights, protien skimmer(was saltwater)...r/o unit...wet dry...and a rack of other stuff...3 pumps power heads...and much more...paid 400 for everything which i think is pretty good...now my questions are the r/o unit has not been used in like a year he told me...do i need to replace anything???...or just clean it out???..also the wet dry has a whole on the side...which im figuring was either for the skimmer or a drain...what do u guys thing i should do with it???...the pump sits inside and this hole is about 2 inches off the bottom...u guys think i should cap it off or use it??...its a fresh set up now so i dont know...well piks when i get home...im stoked now i have my 300 and this...im happy...
On the R/O unit, you will probably need to replace the membrane, they dont work if they have been let to dry out. I think there are two different types though, one that can dry out and one that can't, mine is the type that cant and I believe that is the much more common type. Even if it isnt that type I'm sure it wouldnt hurt to replace it.

Nice score. The extra hole is probably for an external pump. Like you were thinking, it can be plugged.
Btw, a few of us from Orlando are going to meet up to go fishing. Let me know if you are interested. Last time we caught several nice bowfins on the Wekiva River.

that sounds good man...pm me with some more info...ive gone to toho and fished some of the conway lakes near my house (i live around the airport) and caught alot of nice largemouth and bluegill...havent been out to much though as im new to the area and only been in orlando around 4 months...but im down to go out...just got a new setup not too long ago too...get to test it out..lol...hope i can go home soon and try to start setting up my tank so i can finish today...thanks guys
