I love the colour and pattern but it's head looks really compressed. Is that a temensis hybrid?

i think its either from colombia, the rio negro or orinoco... lol one of those 3.. i wish i could find the site i got it off of. for soem reason it seems like all of the rio negros fish are brighter then anywhere else.. i need to do some research on ph, water softness.. ect.. lol hahahah bro you too funny. i would love to get my hands on a tem that looks like that at such a small size. this is the fish i was telling you about thats making me want some or a tem again.... grrr damm cichla addiction.. you could never get enough  :screwy::D

From my limited experience this looks like cichla ethiopian*lol* I think these waters experience heavy commercial fishing thus lack of food and large matured Tem. In such circumstances the smaller ones get a chance to mate at youngest possible age. From the extremely large eye and body shape I 'd say some stunted growth is possible too.

lol looks like a natural wild fish to me.. big eyed cichla and slender bodies just mean that they arent obese from power feeding ;) in my opinion they look better that way and give there colors more time to naturally enhance

x 2. You are spot on re power feeding and beady eyes tank raised tems. Read some research papers on Rio Negro productivity, pretty low and nutrient poor. Meaning it can't withstand human exploitation. Tems help to kick start the basic food chain with their faeces after feeding on migrating Knerii. Very fragile foodweb if you ask me.
