My loaches are not aggressive. I think the spines are more of a defensive thing to prevent from becoming eaten by larger fish.

There are a couple species of loaches that are killers. One problem is even within a species you never know if it is going to be aggressive. The Green tiger botia is one that often attacks and kills other fish but some are peaceful and other will just pick on one other fish and get along with everyone else. The same happens with B. histrionica. this is the green tiger (Botia helodes)

Never had an agression problem, I keep some clowns in a platy breeding tank. There are some small platys and the clowns leave them alone. Other species, I'm not sure.

I have three shistura manherti's- the red tail tiger loach- different from the previously mentioned tiger loach- they don't get huge, but they are so bad I've taken to calling them the SH*T's . They attack like a pack of dogs or something- ate all my shrimp and guppies, and have killed anything that isn't smart enough to stay out of their way.

Other than that, the most aggressive is by far the tiger loach and the other types similar- the Queen's and the berdmorei. Skunks and red-tail are close seconds, at least to other loaches and other bottom dwelling fish.

How about Burmese Botia? I'm thinking of getting one or a Yo-yo. Any problems with these?

Burmease or Botia Kuboti are freindly and one of the few loaches that are always out and about in my tank. As with other botia they are best kept in groups of 3 or more.

Skunk botia, although small, are prone to fin nipping.

Botia modesta (red tailed botia) can be aggressive. I had 2 yoyos that were definitely more aggressive than I expected them to be. :)

no probs with yo yos theyre great in a community tank, theyre recommended kept in groups, ive only ever kept them in pairs and have never had any problems, but prob do best in at least groups of 3

My Red Tail Botia can do some damage. I can hear them clacking as they chase other fish.

Yes, they're one of the nastiest species although skunks are worse than them.

My Modesta got in a fight with a Salvini Cichlid over a cave under some driftwood. The Modesta won. Amazing.
