who says 18"? i do not think they get to 18" in captivity. the largest we've seen is woodys 12"er, but if i see a larger one, im a believer.

what size tank do you need to keep one of these guys?

a 4x1.5 is a good growout, i cant see him needing more than a 5x2 when he's about 12".

no he's in the growout with goliath boy:D

was supposed to trade my goliath atf for this guy, but along the trip, the goliath flipped upside down, after being passed to the new owner, it was unable to be revived, so i gave him $60 instead.

Should not have made that trade due to the transportion, mis-handling and pass the blame on me and I had to end up selling it at a loss for only $60. When I saw the flipped fish I should have just left. The flipped fish was curve all the way when i bring back. Should have just ask you take back the flipped fish and see if you are able to revived it.

wow.
so cheap.
i got all of mine for either 70 or 100 plus dollars.
which lfs?
3 feet tank with 1.5 foot width?
it would be a good growout but not for life.

Flipped fish, never seen that. Are they very sensitive to shipping?

channarox
07-19-2008, 9:55 PM
they are.

xander
07-19-2008, 10:05 PM
they are.

how would you know?

goliaths are pretty unreliable and unpredictable. general rule of thumb is that they're a pain to ship, esp overseas. however this same goliath has travelled around singapore in a bag when i first got it. perhaps it was the bumpy busride that killed it.

yeah and it's supposed to stay with you. second hand info, being passed around leads to ridiculous and completely inaccurate gossip. it's not like 5 yrs ago when no one had any experience with these fish, now there are many people who've actually kept these fish. so let the people with actual advise advise, and the people with no advise, read and learn.

oh. are they hard to keep? how long do they usually live?

channarox
07-19-2008, 11:46 PM
out of the three species, theyre the least hardy.
they die for no reason at 12 inches.
but sometimes even before that.
the most skittish species also.
