does anyone have information on the zigzag eel? i had some peacocks in the past, but they were just too static. i've got a 6'' tiretrack that i love for his tenacity. are the zigzags more elusive, or do they share the same characteristics of the tiretrack?

the only thing i know about zig zags is how to roll em :D
Zig zag eel, Mastacembelus circumcinctus. They usually get ca. 6" in captivity. Keep it in at least 35 g. Floating plants to diffuse the lightning. The zig zag eel burrow, so use fine gravel.
pH 6-8 and 75-81F.
Most Mastacembelus-eels eat frozen bloodworms and shrimp. They also eat live food like tubifex and cyclops. Might eat small fish.

The Mastacembelus family, really an asian long fish and not an eel so to speak. The Tire Tack and the Fire eel are the big boys of the family. My Tiretack is right at 16" and will only eat small fish. I've seen tire tack eels that are little over 36" in length. Ive tried all the worms but no luck he did eat them for a while but I made the misstake of putting in a large yoyo loach. they got into it pretty hard and I thought they might work it out but they did not.
The ZIG ZAG are smaller I've seen them 6" to 8" but not much bigger. They will eat shrimp, frozen blood worms and neon tetra size fish. They hunt at night and will get your small sleeping fish. Good luck they are a blast.
There are seversal smaller families that are similar to MAstacembelus coming out of Africa.
