i was in chicago and saw a public tank and the guy offered me the asian arowana for 200.00 he said he hates it it is about 30 inches long and is about 16 lbs its ****ing huge.

Is that even possible? Asian arowanas are federally prohibited species and you really can't own an Asian arowana without permits.
They also cost a lot of money, a juvenile can fetch $500 or more (depending on the variety).

Yes, I know that, but you said the person offer YOU the fish, which to my understanding is quite illegal. And for $200, I'd say that's not very possible.

Highly doubt its an asian aro. If it is, you have just hit the lottery
of the fish world . Nobody in his right mind will sell one in the us
at that size and at that price.
In any case, try taking a pic and post it here. Or better still,
check out our gallery and look at our singapore member's asian aro
(or just type in scleropages formosus in google ) , memorize how they
look like (down to scale size) and compare that with the arrowana
being offered to you.

ssredman is full of ****. He claims the 3 asians in his gallery are his. stupid 14 yr old.
Does he honestly expect us to believe that those fish that were in your gallery belong to you a 14 year old kid. Do you have any idea the amount of legal hoops you have to jump through to get one of those? Much less 3?

I find that in Asia, you guys keep your large fish in tanks that are always 2' wide. For example, i see a lot of 4X2X2, 5X2X2, and sometimes 6X2.5X2.5.
And here in North America you see a lot of 6X18"X12", 6X18"X18" and 6X2X2.

Hmmmm....if the 3 aros in ssredman's gallery are his...then he would not have any problem recognising the fact that the aro offered to him is a true asian aro? and he should be grab that offer straight off on the spot...cuz a $200 deal is simply out of this world!!! even in the context in Singapore..for that size... :y220d:
