There's a few pics around of piranhas in planted tanks - and both the plants and the piranhas look fine. How is this possible? Some people say piranhas would smash the plants to bits or dig em up? Does it depend on the piranhas personality?

serrasalmus seem to be less inclined to tear up plants than pygos, if only because they grow so much slower and must be kept singly. You can try it, it *may* work fine for you...

Never worked for me. They just tore them up. I did get some quality artifisal plants to work but they still need to be replanted almost every night.
My RBP's have always been in planted tanks, you get some circular and semi circle holes missing from the plants from time to time, but no big deal.
