I was watchin tv today and i heard a sound in my tank. My red tail barracuda was trying to eat my bala shark that was almost the same size as it. It had the head in its mouth but culdnt get it down. Its crazy what these red tails will try 2 eat when there hungry. They seem to be heavier eaters than my atf.

hahaha, was the bala dead/mostly dead at that point? they, like pretty much all other predators, love chowing on slim-bodied fish...

My two 5" red tails have eaten there share of fish that they were not supposed to eat. One of them recently ate a 4" ropefish. It hit the ropefish head on and swallowed it whole.

a good pellet brand. Might I recommend http://www.kensfish.com 's floating cichlid pellets, or the HBH cichlid pellets he sells. About 1/4 the price of what you'd pay for hikari, with more protein ( a good thing)

If you can some how convince an ATF to take pellets then you are a miracle worker. I have never ever heard of one taking dry foods.

On seperate note:

Dang Kensfish is dirt cheap when it comes to food.

Also try Jehmco (www.jehmco.com)

They are also another excellent company to buy fish food from. They sell a lot of frozen foods in bulk that kensfish does not.

People try to keep fish together that are not compatible, this is where the problems start.

^ i agree.
but many would think they are compatible because they are th same size.
hope the bala makes it!
