They will most likely fight to the death
I will never say never because some people get away with some weird things, but unless your tank is huge or you get really really really really lucky, they will kill each other.
I seen some as small as 2 inches continuosly fight. Just recently, a 2-3 inch one snapped out of the blue (was in a group tank) and killed 7 bgks of the same size in one night.
we keep no bgk over 4 inches in a tank with another bgk.

Yep, they will fight to death, i have seen them in some fish stores floating with serious injuries cause sellers don't care and put them together.

yeah ive seen more than one at my lfs, but they dont fight there, but if they would, i wouldnt put them together. theres always one hiding in a piece of tubing while the others hover around the pipe.

Im'm no expert nor do I know much at all, lol
But to my understanding...
BGK's along with other fish like elephants and othe knives, shouldn't be kept together because of an organ that produces small electrical charges to help them find food, which will be a problem when all of them are looking for food, personally I would just keep one.
They are some awsome fish, trust me use tubifex cubes too. :)
Mine rips at them like a pitbull. :)

yeah. where can i find pipes for them to hide in? i heard that they like them, but id like to get something that is big enough for it when it reaches full size, but they like clear tubing just as much as normal ones, plus you get to see them then too. but tinted stuff works too, kinda dispurses some of the light which they like but you can still see them thru it. i think my lfs uses hamster cage tubing for the small bgk's

they are hovering around the tube because they would like to go in the tube, but the one in there would whoop its ass if it tried haha

when my bgk was smaller I used a 12" hurricane lamp glass tube. You should be able to get one from a large lighting centre :) I siliconed some fake plants onto it aswell :D

The clear pipes and hurricane lamp covers are pretty much a no no, it doesnt give them any protection for the light, If you want to see them lay a flat light colored rock against the glass, I need to get a light colored rock.

I got mine from one of those rock fountains you can buy at walmart, but thats another story, try looking at a tile or flooring company, Thats about all I can think of.

i have a fish room all planned out for my future home. ive even made a drawing of it. it includes 5 tanks. 4 of them are 180g and one is a 120g saltwater. although i may have to alter the picture for added tanks.

Sweet, I want to have 2 300gl, one fresh and one salt.
nitrofish1
08-06-2008, 8:55 PM
i heard saltwater is more difficult, so thats why im not going small, but not big either. now keeping these big 180 freshwater tanks will be easy now that i know how to deal with water changes and water chemistry levels, and i can actually keep a tank at consistent levels, makes me happy :)

found slabs of red rock at my lfs. kinda pricey though. 2 bucks a pound. but i suppose id better start stackin in that future tank.
