Hey guys and gals, this is my first post so I wanna make it good!
Here's my problem: I wanted to give a little selection to my dat other then feeders, but its a no go! It's about 7' with 3 pbass about 6' and a 6' golden dorado in a 75 gal (for now). The bass arn't picky, the dorado I just got a couple days ago-no problems yet, but since I've owned the dat, feeders are all it eats...any suggestions?
thanks in advance!:D

What else have you tried?
All dats seem to eat MP or FD krill, have you tried those as an alternative?

Welcome to MFK! I feed mine FD Shrimp and cut pieces of raw fish and raw shrimp. It seems like the only thing mine will eat besides feeders.

GIve it time. REad many previous posts, to reveal, that it can take days, weeks or months to get Dats to eat Non-Live foods. Just feed the same thing, i.e. prawn until he gives in.
Good luck

7' dat!!!!!!!!! Thats huge! JJ. Go ahead and try ghost shrimp. This will give him a taste for shrimp and it will fill him up. Then go ahead and starve him. if completely stuffed at 7", your dat should last 2 months with out food. If you find this to stressful you can do starvation for a week at a time. Freeze dried krill, market shrimp, Sinking carnivore, and food sticks are good choices

thanks for the replys thusfar! so far i've tried fresh (frozen) shrimp-the bass love it, but, he stalks it, eats it and then spits it out! i've tried the starving thing for only about a week though-i was impressed to read that someones dat went on for 8 months i believe w/o food! wow, i thought fish could only last 10 days or so...i was thinking of maybe putting him in a 30 gal and try to feed him there-what do you think? and what is mp shrimp? im getting used to the abbreviations =)

I got my most stubborn Dat off feaders with the week starvation method. It was a 7" NTT. Fed shrimp pellets everyday and then bought feeders once a week. Once it snatched up its first shrimp pellet, it would easily take other pellets and frozen foods.

Welcome to MFK!
