Some of you may remember my Monster Predatory Community Update thread from a few weeks ago. The mods moved it to the Photo Lounge, I assume because there were so many photos. It promptly disappeared to page number "who knows".
Anyway, rather than updating that again, I just wanted to throw out a quick update. Check out what I've been doing the last few weeks.:D

I'm very close to having this up and running. It's 358 US Gallons with a footprint of 8' long x 3' wide x 2' tall. All that's left to do now is wash 400 pounds of sand and put together my plumbing and under gravel jets. The fishes in my sig line plus a couple of others will be going in this tank.
If you remember, I built the stand myself in the living room. The wife wanted new flooring, so I had to get rid of the carpet and install new flooring (with the stand in the way,, lol). It's taken a little longer than I expected. I've had furniture stacked up in the kitchen for a couple of weeks now. But it's down to days now rather than weeks to see fishes in this thing.:D
You can check out my old update thread with a bunch of pics and info here...

You must not use 3M ColorQuartz. :grinno: Black Colorquartz takes a wee bit longer. The last time I used it, it took about 1/2 hour per bag.
And a tip for anyone else washing black ColorQuartz, wear somelatex gloves. The black will stain your hands. Ask me how I know.:D

it does stain your hands, but it doesn't take long to wash if you know what you're doing.

The fishes in my sig line are going in there plus a couple of salvinis I'm grwoing out and also a male motaguense. I would really like to see all five Parachromis in there together, but I think a dovii may be pushing my luck. I'd even drop some stock like the GT's or the TSN's or even the RT's if I thought it would allow me to keep a dovii successfully with the rest.

The Pelican Bay Special Housing Unit is reserved for the most violent criminals and gang members that are too dangerous to be housed in even a Supermax prison. I think the name fits even though the fishes aren't kept in "solitary". At least the name fits according to those who say the fishes in this tank will kill each other and me too in my sleep. It's really just a joke poking fun at those who don't think overstocking "aggressive" Central and South Americans can work. ;)
