View Full Version : Should I Be Worried?

My Delhezi looks awfully bloated. I'm not sure if it's an infection of some sort or just because hes a pig. Any help would be appreciated... The pics attatched are a blurry one from when I first bought him, showing a normal Bichir shape, and the second one is the best picture I have of him to show how bloated he is. The lump in his belly starts right after the head and goes to almost the pelvic fins, then he tapers out into the tail.

don't feed him for a day and see what happens, if it's still there I'd be worried

how long has it been like that ? i assume he didn't just eat or you would just think hes a piggy

My sen usually smooths out completely again 2 days after pigging out, so yeah give it a couple days and it should be nearly or totally gone.

Thanks everyone. It's been three days since I put any food in the tank and he still looks the same. By the way, he's been like this for a few months now.

Thanks for the epson salt idea killerfish, I'm going to look into that.

3 months ?????? I would be worried..

I'd separate him into a separate tank, mix in some epson salt to relive his digestive tract and wait to see what happens..

I belive the mixture is 1 tablespoon of epson salt per 5 gallon of water.

You may need to double check the mixture first.

Thanks Stan, I will do what you say because you seem to know what you're talking about. I've never really faced any diseases or anything with any of my fish before so I'm rather clueless. :nilly:

One day fast is not enough. Try 5 days with no food. He should be visibly thinner. Do not feed him all that he can eat, til he slims down

Here is a pic I took today of the lump. You can really make out what it looks like in this pic, and its been like that for a few months. Hopefully with this clearer pic I can get a for-sure on the problem and take action ASAP. By the way, Jim King, it's been four days I think without food now and it sill looks like this...

OK everyone, problem solved! :)

I went to sleep last night and when I woke up the lump was gone. I guess he had to take a massive poop or something because he is regular size again. Thanks everyone for your help!
