If you ask the people in the lighting section, they will look at you like you are stupid. Just ask someone where the drop-ceiling tiles are and they will tell you. The egg crate is right around the tiles. This is true for Lowes and Menards.

Depending on where you are from. I know here in Indiana, eggcrate often means the foam material that eggs were packed into in order to keep them from cracking. Hard to explain what it looks like. This is why most of them look at you like that, because they don't carry the foam padding.

Egg crates real name is "light diffusion grating", it's used in big floursecent light fixtures in office buildings to spread the light around so it doesn't just cause glare problems.

The companies that make it call it "Eggcrate Louvers".

I know that they also use it in drop ceilings for ventilation purposes as well. It helps keep from having moisture issues above or below a drop ceiling. Most contracters I've worked around just call it venting material.

But typically in the store just look for a shelf holding various light diffusers and there should be some sitting there. Make sure to check it out before buying as well, sometimes you may grab one that is chipped up or partial broken and won't know until you get home. If you have to pay for it, then I suggest getting a good piece! :grinno:
