CHILLL!!!:nilly:
nox ick, $5 at any fish store.
jack up your heat and shut of your lights.
do a water change, should be good to go.

There's literally hundreds of posts, stickies and articles on this forum with specific instructions on how to deal with ich safely using salt (which guppies like) and heat. Go to the top left hand side of this screen and click on 'search' and type in "ich salt".
There's so much good info about it that your fish will be long cured before you're done reading it all. Assuming you treat them, then keep reading :-)

Being that he said it is a planted tank, and many plants are intolerant of salt, that would not help him.

OP crank your heat to 85dF for a couple days. The guppies don't respond well to high temps though.

Salt, salt, salt, 1 tbsp salt/ five gallons, turn the heat up to about 80 and turn the lights off, water change next day and add 1 tbsp of salt for each five gallons added. keep the lights off and temp at 80, you should be ok , Just make sure you use conditioning salt not marine salt, or table salt. I wouldnt recomend using chemicals, other than melafix that stuff is good too, and you can use it with the salt with no probs. ( I like that stuff too ) in all seriousness i recomend using conditioning salt for most tanks anyway, it seems to keep my fish happy and healthy. Take everyones advice under consideration then make your own decisions.

Again, freshwater plants and salt do not mix. Salt is a very bad treatment in a planted tank.

thanks for the replies guys. i took out the 2 that have ick and put them into a bucket with a heater at 80dF. i also added some salt to the bucket... hopefully shell clear up in a few days. i also cranked the heater up to 82 in the main tank with the other non-infected fish.

what is the max temperature of the water b4 i create stress on the plants??

I know plants don't deal well with brackish & marine salinity but the amount needed for ich is 1/8 or less than needed for brackish. I know lots of people that use that small amount and their plants do absolutely fine.
Your fish and your call though. The ich is already in the tank itself, it won't do any good to pull just 2 of the fish and treat them in a bucket.
My point was that using the search button gives you better results and 100 times the options than posting before bothering to search.

Many plants cannot handle salt at all. Recommending salt treatment without even knowing his plants is very dangerous. Especially when heat will fix the problem, and not affect the plants.
