I'm asking info on a Indo Delhezi. Are they uncommon, and should they cost twice as much as other Bichirs? One of my Lfs's has one for $99.99 about 10" long. The rest of his Bichirs run about $49.99.

Indo?
One store I frequent had a 5-6" P. delhezi for about $50. A 10" there might run close to $100 What other species do they normally sell that are $50?

Sounds like they just thought it would be cool to add "Indo" in front of Delhezi :screwy:

Out of curiosity, what's the difference? Until a couple months ago, the only Polyteridae I'd heard of were sens, ornates, and ropes. I didn't even know delhezi existed until June when I almost bought one (and now wish I had). For the time being, bichirs have overtaken cichlids as my main fish interest

well it's not really new, or a 'made-up' name so to speak.
As Anne said, the natural range for all polypterids is in Africa. However, there are some species that are captive bred in Indonesia. So if this delhezi truly came from Indonesia (Indo) as the name suggests, then it'd be a captive bred specimen.
in any case, that price is too high, even for wild specimens, and a typical specimen bred in Indo should cost even less than wild IMO.
