I just red msmasspoly's thread on her endli eating her senegalus.

I am curious on your experience.

Please post:

1. The size and type of your polypterus that ate the other polypterus

2. The size and type of the victim.

Thanks

stan

1. 5ish inch, fat senegal

2. ate a 1 inch, skinny p. polli

idk why I even tried. Thing was like a worm. didn't last through the night. It was just dumb and a waste of 25 bucks lol. I think I was just so excited i found a different poly that I made myself believe it would work even though I knew it wouldn't.

My bichirs are all good boys & girls, they never ate any of the same kind. Infact, the largest they ate was 2" feederfishes.

Hello,

i never lost abichir by eating by another bichir ...

But my onates love cichlids of all sizes - my first ornate had eaten 25(!!!) Jack Dempseys ... no-one wanted them to keep. Some of them were longer as the half size of the ornate.
My new ornate (i had given the old one to another keeper due to place problems to this time) killed the last cichlid (sajica) i had - also more than the half size ...

Beware of keeping cichlids & ornates!

Greetings

Uwe

my 8-9 inch sen tried to eat my 4 inch albino sen. He went after the albino right after it was introduced to the aquarium. Was able to rescue the albino with only maybe a tail nip. Unless the albino puts on some more size, I won't be trying it again. I have owned the albino for about 6 months and it only seems to have grown about an inch(still about 4 inches). The regular sen grew much faster. Hope the LFS didn't stunt him somehow

My 7" ornate at my 3" delhezi.

'n' thats the only bichir I lost too. 'n' the ornate made a party out of my 5" malaysian giant shrimp and 2 6" arowanas.

I bet take out the potential threat is the purpose, and sometimes some expensive meal is not bad at all.:banhim::D

I also have a 12 plus inch sen that ate a 10 inch rope fish:{

8" Ornate ate 9" rope didn't know how that worked

My 10" Ornate ate my 8.5" Ropefish =(

all very disturbing. i will watch my bichirs carefully even though it seems they are very slim and not much would fit in their mouth

my old endli 10" ate a 7" arowana i had just bought.

This scares me. I'm planning to have that combo

i have a 4 inch short body albino sen that ate a 2 inch IT tiger

I have 10 inch ornate and a 5 inch NTTiger, should caution apply here also? the NTT looks very thick, not something i think would fit in the ornates mouth/stomach, but then again, all your posts has proven me wrong about what they could eat.

oh and i have a 4 inch loach in there also

After reading this thread i Dont understand how i have this going on in my tank

http://i45.photobucket.com/albums/f64/intoxi/polychill.jpg

My other black ghost knife used to point his head straight up and poke the tip of his tail on the poly's head and bounce on him... I found him dead one day.

Ok,
also in my tanks a poly never ate another one.
But i would never co-house a 3" poly with a for example 8" + poly.
But in one of my tanks i keep a few 3" polys together with 16" - 18" ropefishes wthout no problems.

Instead all of my bichirs love the tail of my ghostfishes.
Its a shame but what to do??
Is not of the food.
My small bichirs getting theit shrimps and larvas every day.

How long you kept this combination??

Jakob

Never had a Poly that ate another Poly so they are cooperating the system, POLY ONLY TANK!
But one of my 11" senegal females once ate a 6" Tyre track eel...
