Kittens, baby Seals, children under 20 pounds...the usual....just kidding...Dats will take live feeders (preferably) and will eventually take frozen food and pellets...I've also heard they are known to go on hunger strikes at random and stop eating for periods of time. So watch out for that!

i feed mine beef liver, chicken liver, and krill. feeders are only an occasional thing, and i like to stick to ghost shrimp.
I feed mine frozen bloodworms, frozen krill, and frozen brine shrimp chunks when small. Once they get large enough to safely swallow market prawns, I switch them over because it saves me money. :)
2 of my 4 eat market shrimp and the other 2 are currently starving cuz they wont eat the shrimp...

Pretty much any meaty foods are accepted when they are acclimated. I feed krill, shrimp, live worms (blackworms, nightcrawlers, etc), silversides and live fish.
By the way, I am flattered you chose to use one of my Datnoids as your avatar.

my dat eats whitebait whole and chopped prawn plus mealworms

Yeah Ivan I was gonna say "thats a pretty nice dat for somone who doesnt know what to feed it" I knew it looked familiar.
And LA213, a little tip, people usually use their OWN fish in their avatar. :)

frozen shrimp seems fine... in the wild they pretty much take anything they can swallow. Not fussy eaters..
Feeding frozen chunks are better as they normally just swallow it whole instead of chewing and messing the water. Plus u can freeze the food w liquid or gel supplements and feed them to the dat.

Mine is a staple of fresh market shrimp. Give's my dat a nice reddish glow... Plus its clean too...

I call them white bait. They are really cheap ($7AUS/kilo)
All my datnoids eat them, so do all my other fish for that matter.....
