I recently posted a similar question on cats but am curious about aros. My lfs regularly stocks small silvers, generally 2-4". My question is, if raised from this small size together, would it be possible to house a pair of adults in a tank somewhere in the 240-390 gal. range? I am looking at tanks with a width of at least 30" and a length of 6-8'. I have heard that aros can show aggression to others of their species, especially if it is only two of them together, but I'm wondering, since a group had been together from a small size and all others were removed once any pairing behavior had been noticed, if the remaining two would be able to live together through adulthood. Thanks.

Id say two would do pretty good in a 30" wide tank as long as its say 72" or 96" long

Yeah, I was looking to probably get one from Glass Cages. I'm debating right now between a 72x30, 96x30, or 72x36 footprint. Any suggestions? It would be nice to go 36" wide, but seeing as the aros don't really stretch out completely when they turn around, I'm sorta leaning towards the extra 2 feet in length (although I think my Juruense would appreciate the 36" width). The 300 Wide (96"x30"x25") seems to be the best deal price wise, but I would like a little more hight for aesthetics.

Silvers are the most laid back of all arowanas. I would recommend at least 30" wide when they are adult. 96" is alot better than 72" since silver aros will be half the length of a 72" tank.

I have a 96X30X25 300g from glasscages and love it! Go for the 96"! Just keep it at least 30" wide because I know glasscages offers a 96X24X24 for like half the price, do the 30" wide!

That's what I was thinking too in terms of length. I have always liked watching the dynamics of male/female relationships between fish of the same species, but so far I've only been able to keep pairs of cichlids so I'm looking foreword to trying to get a pair of aros in the same tank. I'm real pumped about getting this tank set up. It will be hands down the biggest tank I've ever had.

As far as eventually ending up with a pair of aros, is the best way to go about that raising a group and letting them naturally pair off? Everything that I've read has said that sexing is difficult and not 100% until one lays eggs, so right now that's the method I'm leaning towards.
