Ornate Polypterus Pricing ?

What would a 16" polypterus go for in your area? My LFS had it listed at $129.99..

ive only seen one that big around here, they told me $50 for it. they probably just wanted to get rid of it. payed 40 for a 8ish incher, if that means anything.

there was a 6-7 incher for 30 bucks at my lfs. wish i had this friggin 220 set up, it wouldve been mine.

There was one around 6-8" @ a notoriously overpriced (IMHO) LFS for $50 the other day.

Was thinking they are harder to find when they are larger.. There was one a while back a bit thinner for $99 but it sat for ever and eventually got discounted..

If anyone wants to trade a 16" Bichir for a ray let me know :D

I've got one at 10" for free, and the other at 5" for $30, but they're both 14" or so now.
I've had the one that was originally 10" for about a year and the smaller one for 1.5-2 years.

my lfs is selling a 10 inch one for 60. but i think its been there a while

I can only imagine.. 4-5" I have seen sell for 39-45.00 and 6-7" for 69+

I'm getting my Ornate either today or Tuesday if they can order some in. It's $45 for any size of Ornate from 3" - 10"+. (The fish store people don't bother changing the prices according to size here. :D) But yeah, that seems like a reasonable price.

for me to much here in cleveland 16inch goes for 63.00 some try to charge 75.00 when I bought mine at 10inches 32.99 that was 3 years ago.

3" ornate have been in a few times at around 80-100$ but one store has them now for 300$ @3" !!

I bought my smaller one a year ago @ 3" for 100$.
My bigger one was ~8" in the LFS for 200$.

for and ornate that size i'd say any where around $100 would be a good price then again i see alot of over priced bichirs i saw a 4'' ornate for $75 the other day

ornate? 16"? i bought them only for 7 USD. (no kidding)
bought P. Endlicheri 5" only for 5 USD.
senegals albino 2" only 1 USD while senegalus only half of it.
and there's anew variety of senegalus called senegalus sly. it has long fin. only 3 USD.


ur country might import them from my country. coz poly are well farmed here.

around me for that size is 100-250 for slighty smaller their is 25-80!

Its amazing how the prices of these fish vary by region, or even city for that matter within the states. A 6-7incher around where I live is $60-$70. A 16incher would be around $150 at the least...Probably more like $200.
