my buddy had a flowerhorn and a jackdempsey in a tank and they ended up being a male and a female. Then last week he noticed the little fry on the bottom of his tank will post pics when i see them next.

posting pics in a week won't do much good, all fry look the same at such small sizes, but in a month or so they will prolly have some noteworthy features. lookin forward to the pics.

the flowerhorn is the male the jack is the female.
Where are the pics you promised?

went over his house the other day they are still small and out of about 50 only mabe 10 are alive but all of the 10 are wicked healthy will post when they r a bit bigger

I don't think that it is possible to cross a flowerhorn with a jack. I think someone is confused.

i dunno about that... ive seen a LOT of cichlid hybrids....

Me to but form closer relatives then the jacks and flowerhorns. Flowerhorns are from midas/trimac like fish. I ould have to see the fry in the tank with the parents to believe it.

I think you haven't seen enough crosses if you are still not believing that this particular cross is possible. You do realize how many diff. FH there are out there?? Look at any of the syspylum members.....looks nothing like RD, Trimac, or Texas or actual Carpintis. The Tex and Escondido I have seen cross with members of the sysp. fam before. I think the fish just have to whore out to make it all possible. I've also seen Tex. Jack....should still have a pic of my roomates. Now....no one is saying that these things won't turn out looking like Bl parrots but thats the fun with crossing things up, you get to see....later :)

show me! Show me pictures of a jack and a flowerhorn cross or just paired up! I know that cichlids easily cross I just can not believe this two would.

I think the fry would look okay I just don't think that is possible in a regular tank you could possible do it by hand. The two fish are a lot different to me. Nothing personnel adganist hybrids in fact more of my fish are. I just do not believe that this two fish can breed togeather on their own. I have a male flowerhorn and a female jack in the same tank and nothing.

Jack females have always seemed a bit more picky to me. I'm sure you just have to have a big enough whore and she'll do it w/ anything

keep an eye on frys, turn your back & those parents might have a nice lunch & dinner.
