View Full Version : Arapaima Giga, what water parameters?
Just wondering... maybe some of you Arapaima pro's can answer this or should i call on "johnptc" to help with this... :D But what are the water parameters required to keep a healthy Pima? Like PH, temp... etc. Or do they require water just like their cousins the Arowana?

Lots and lots of water...
I keep mine @ 22-26C and a pH of just under 7

Neutral pH, clean water, LOTS of water, warm water... Not really a terribly picky fish as far as water params.

Younger ones are more finiky about water quality. All are fairly sensative to ammonia. Jsut don't do any big swings in chemistry (especially pH) and you'll be ok. I run mine in between 7.0- 7.5 most of the time. As for temp, I keep them 78-85F or so. Just be aware the water temps will lead to a higher metabolism and a faster growth rate.
