I am moving a large CK and Silver Arowana on Sunday.....today is Thursday.....I need help ASAP.....what are your best ways of moving large fish? I am only going a short distace...10 minutes but they are both at least 2 feet long..... I am thinking a large cooler......what is the best method of getting them both into and out of a tank? A garbage bag doesnt seem to be a good option to me....HELP!!!
I have tried the garbage bag before when i was moving my gars ... errrr the bigger one shot straight through the garbage bag once it started trashing inside (my heart stopped at the point when it started trashing on the ground) ... the problem is that the water is quite heavy also... btw, the gars are fine in their new set-up.
btw, pillow case thing sound OK though ...or better yet, garbage bag with pillow case outside for extra reinforcement.
My father have used fishing net to move RTCs and oscar for me (without my conscent ... but hey they are all alive today).
I am not happy with any of the methods i have tried so far. but one thing is sure: reduce water level first.
PS: heheheh will try the pillow/garbage bag on the paimas soon ^^
This seems like a great solution....considering I do not want to harm the fish and keep them as calm and safe as possible....thanks everyone...so far I at least have a good plan.......I am going to use two 55 gallon coolers one for each fish....also I plan on geting my tank set up for them as well....water quality is great and have a canister filtration.....fluval 405 and some extra powerheads with filters and under garvel filrtation.....just what I ended up with....I plan on mixing a little bit of the water everyday till they come home with me.......probably about 10-20 gallons a day from the original tank and slowly transport it to my tank here and fill as a course of a temporary water change slash acclimation.......just working with what I have....thanks
