my buddy has a 11" flowerhorn that may be the prettiest i have ever seen :drool: . he has it in a 30gal because his dovii was kickin its *** in the 150gal. he bought it for $180 a year ago and is selling it for $150.......told me $100 because we are cool. im kinda new to this and i got all my other fish(very cheap :grinno: ) from my LFS that was closing its pond. i have the room and really like the fish. but is that a good price (or are we not that cool,haha)? he will sell it soon if i dont jump on it.
 
It depends on the quality of the fish, and location. I'm guessing that FH are really expensive in Hawaii....what are others going for in the area.

if indeed this is true then I'd say good friend no matter what the quality of the fish. if he paid $180 and he's willing to sell it to you at an $80 loss then that sounds like a pretty good friend to me. :)
 
I paid a total of $12 for TWO baby flowerhorns. I've seen full sized adult specimens going for around $100. If you really want one, get a juvi and raise it up. Its cheaper, and if you ask me, much more fullfilling.

Sure...you can easily get two, low grade flowerhorns from a petstore for that cheap. $100 for a full grown adult is only a expensive price if it is a low grade FH. My Super Red FH I had shipped over from Thailand, which cost me almost $100 for two, 1" fish. But when she's full grown, she'll easily be worth $200-$300, because she's such a high quality fish.
 
i could never pay over 50 bucks for one fish. i just dont have it in me. most money i have ever spent was 40 bucks for my blue spot grouper. that was hard enough for me.
 
Fish have no set value like Gold or other things. A fish is only worth as much as somebody is willing to pay. Do you really like the fish and is it worth $100 to YOU then buy it if it is not worth that much to you leave it.
 
An 11" Flowerhorn would definately fetch a pretty penny. I think it's a good deal because any Flowerhorn I've seen around at that size would go for $150 to $250. And if you think it looks cool, who care what kind of Flowerhorn it is? I say go for it :thumbsup:
