Although... yesterday morn, the onlyone in the 60gl, has his top fin beat up, and a lot of scales missing on one side that is all red. His eye is also red so im assuming im ganna loose him too. I think it is the 6" unstable as hell Dat. I also have one in a 50gl with my 6" Armatus:naughty: but they are like buddys (for now:ROFL:)

I know what you mean, Got mine Dec-Jan at about 3"-4" its only 7" maybe 8" now and eats like a pig aswell.

Im still a bit nervous if all the front teeth will grow back, but he still looks good. His lip where his tooth used to be has some white pointy meat as if a tooth is ready to pop out:naughty:. I hope im not speaking to early;)

Goliath took the first shot from the Goliath/Armatus combo
The Armatus has aRed circle behind the gill plate. It looks better in person. It is a red bite and a lil more back you can make out the teeth marks from the Goliath. Luckly it was not bad

I dont think the Armatus liked it cause I keep seeing him rush and headbutt the Goliath. For the first time I have seen him snap (luckly he missed every time) at the Goliath a few times. Looks like this could be the begining to a Fatal War:cry:.

Only prob is who to keep before the other becomes a casualty???
I just hope im over thinking and making the situation bigger than it is in the tank:D

I have had him for about a yr now. I think I got him around 10-11" (something like that). He might be bigger than 13"??

My guys teeth seem to be coming back (front teeth) and all of his teeth on his left side are brand new. they fell out and grew back and look bigger:naughty:. As for the front of his teeth... when I first got him I had no where to put him but in a 50gl and he damn near nocked off his entire snout..... teeth and all. Id say he only had about 3-4 teeth from the back of his mouth left. I thought I was ganna loose him. It was one of those things that a hella good deal came up and I just started remodeling my entire house. So me and the fam had to pack up and put everything in storage. The Goliath was going to go to a LFS in the mean time but it didnt happn for what ever reason.... So here he is with all his teeth on both sides and just missing the front view teeth:naughty:.

Id definately keep the GATF, nice update also.

Yeah, Im pretty sure im ganna keep the GATF as I know I had doubts before but it is a slow growing 13" G A T F !:screwy: Dont know what I was thinking before:D. I go through my ups and downs but since adding the ever so wanting Armatus, I think im still in Love with the ATF:naughty:.

at least you got a warning before one of them is taken out.
normally you just find one,usually NOT the armatus,dead already.:eek:

brevis,forskalii,vittatus,goliath and tanzaniae i think.

Your good bro. As long as you dont have just one silver fish with them. If you keep your tank balanced with a few tankmates, it kind of distracts them but once you start to add or take out fish they might get mad and then youll end up with just VATFs (maybe just one)


And if im not mistaken Brevis and Forskolii are the same fish (forget where I read it at:D)

Your fish looks like Vittatus. Brevis has a moresharp nose and narrower

They arent really that agressive ive found them to be moderatly mellow. They get too big and are far too active for a 55gal though.

dithers are really just fish to spread aggression...anything silvery and fast should work for you.
tinfoil barbs,silver dollars,more ATF or dorado,bala sharks etc.

My VATF seem very stable since I bought it home. From the bag carry around and to other LFS...dun seem to be stress or anything. Finally after almost 2days stay in the pill I have move it to my 3ft tank. And will be getting some other fish so that dorado will not fight with it.

Any tankmate that nice to keep??

I got to get some new pics of mine he's doing great. He's up from 4" to around 6" allready. Not growing fast but growing none the least. soon he may get some dosicle tankmates to get him used to that.

Ohh yeahh, she was maybe 4.75" at the time. Today i'de say she's 7" and growing. I'll get a current pic up sometime soon. I say it's a she do to head sz. in relation to the last third of it's body hight & fullness, combined with anal fin structure and lengh, and coloration. I like to belive that I have a pretty well trained eye. It may not be science, but i'm usually over 85% accuracy, sexing a number of characin sp. It's just my own sex-ing system.... so I'm not looking to debate anyone.

Thanks. I have had it about 1.5 years now, I got it at about 4"-5" now about 10" slow growing initially but since feeding raw trout he seems to growing a little faster now.

Thanks, The best advice I can give is plenty of space and plenty of high protein fish meat. Trout seems to have worked really well for me. I have also been giving him the odd Hikari pellet to add a little of extra nutrition.

Thanks. I have had it about 1.5 years now, I got it at about 4"-5" now about 10" slow growing initially but since feeding raw trout he seems to growing a little faster now.

well should also keep GATF, they are very cool... once reach 1ft it is becoming of a monster
