Does anyone on here keep them? Watched rivers of the sun documentary, these things are to be respected, I hope no one has them in a tiny aquarium, pond if anything.

Anyone who keeps these, id love to see your setups.

Check for JohnPTC's thread, as well as ArapaimaG's

Some do have that type of room, but very few

I'm a bit dubious of the 15 feet long thing, but JohnPTC has a 10,000 gal tank and ArapaimaG has a 50,000 gallon tank, and they both have multiple arapaimas.

Thing I wonder about people who buy big fish like AGs and alligator gars is what's the point? I mean, sure you can create a pond for them, but then you can never see them save from above only. I want to see my fish in a glass aquarium where I can see them in their full glory. I would take no pleasure at all in keeping them if I can only look down from above to see them.

Fish like the aforementioned two definately require ponds.

check out the aforementioned paima keepers tanks, they dont necessarily have to be ponds. you just have to be baller status to afford the tank they need. at full grown plan on atleast 5k gallons.

Most large tanks unless in a zoo are more like "ponds" with viewing windows. You can make above ground ponds with viewing windows. It's a little harder than a normal pond yes but it's possible.
