What about tree boa's pythons things like that they live on high % bird diets I have feed zebra finches to picky redtailboas babys that works great

There are quite a few tree species that don't eat too many birds... I don't know what makes up a RTBs natural diet though.

Isn't that whole variety theory dangerous in terms of making it more difficult for some snakes to eat their staple diet?

haha yes, it can be with some certain individuals that's for sure. Lizards too I believe.

Yes I do believe that to be true in alot of wild caught species lizards or snakes. but this started over Redtailed boa's diet and in my experience once a baby or wild caught adult is eating well on a regular diet you can change it around a lot and give great varities once eating they seem to go for size and heat more than smell . so I could feed them just about anything as long as it was the right size and heated to about 99 to 105 degree's . when I feed a large group I have to stop in the middle and reheat there food or the last one's will not eat cause it's cold " but " there is 8' male that only eats roomtemp jumbo rats that have unthawed over night in a bowl next to his cage he wont take them any other way but that's more of an exception than a rule.
