I have one more question about aquariums specifically in terms of housing a peacock bass. Do you guys think that 1/4" glass would be thick enough or do you think that a peacock bass could accidentally break it when it starts getting bigger. and in case it matters the tank dimensions are 72"x30"x18"

If it's tempered glass maybe

no way, my tank has half inch. 72x24x30, i honestly dont think 1/4 would be a good choice.

i wouldn't be so worried about the fish breaking the glass as i would the water..

alright, I am hopefully going to have it built for me soon by a manufacturer so I guess I could ask for 3/8" But I was under the assumption you only needed 1/4" for tanks 18" tall? Anyone ever had experience with a fish breaking a tank with its body?

1/4" is a common thickness for shallow tanks in the Philippines! Thicker is always better though!

ok sweet I will definitely go for at least half inch than, thanks for your opinions as I don't think I would be able to make many decisions, with confidence, without them.

I would say that you are pushing your luck using 1/4" glass on a 72 x 24 tank.

i have a 6' x 2' x 18" tank. it is 3/8" doesnt bow ANY. so i think that should be good. 1/2" seems way overkill

id rather overkill the glass size rather than have that much glass and water on the floor

i agree but it is only 132 gallons or so. its not that big of a tank, plus its shallow. i do agree if you dont want top braces then 1/2 is necessary.

I can't wait to actually get it, everything seems to be working out so hopefully it will be within the next couple months. Gotta build myself a super overkill stand to.
