I bought (im guessing) a redtail/shovelnose cat hybrid. It was only listed as hybrid at the store. I was just wondering if anyone knew if this is a fact or not. The pics are small (I took them on a cell phone) and theyre kinda crappy. Any help would be awesome.

I can't see those tiny pics well enough to tell much. But, supposing it is a rtc/tsn, it should get just as large as the parents. If you don't know how big that is, you're in trouble! Better start getting that 4' wide tank going.

ive done alot of research before i decided to buy him and i feel confident in his housing so far. I'm the time it would take him to reach a critical time to re-size the tank i should have enough money and space to upgrade to a larger one.

These fish grow too big too fast. You need a big tank buddy. Also be careful in choosing its tank mates.

You need to go talk to necrocanis, I think his rtcxtsn is the largest on the site right now. Your best bet is going to be to hang out in the catfish section of the site. These hybrids are some of the most regular discussions on the thread. I personally have a 5" hybrid and absolutly love him! Just hope you have a REALLY large tank or pond

 Good deal. As long as your ducks are in a row, you're good to go. As said, I'd chat up in the catfish forums. Lots of guys/gals with lots of experience keeping these beasts.

No one really knows how large they can get as with most catfish they can grow their entire lives no matter how little that growth is. Mine is 38" and still growing a little. He's about 4 years old, and was 19" when I got him about 3 years ago. Just use the housing requirements for RTC, and you'll be fine. Good luck with it. Put up some better pics for a proof positive ID.

I actually had to give him up cause he ate my arowana. He was about 7 or 8 inches or so.

Thats what this post was all about. And now you know, tsn x rt or any pure cats that get to any size are eating machines like no other.
