there's 3 species of redbelly piranha, the Pygocentrus group: nattereri cariba and piraya. Nattereri are the most common specie, and are notorious for being excessively shy. Cariba are fairly common as well. Piraya are fairly rare and always expensive.

I just saw some 3" piraya yesterday. They were about $55 a piece. I would love to add these guys to my tank.

has anyone added piraya to a tank of nattereri when all were juveniles? I talked with a store owner who said this would not be a problem.

should work fine... as fine as piranha groups get anyway. Cannibalization happens. Won't be any different than just adding another nattereri
