Ok here's the deal, "Hello my name is Beau and I'm a fish addict." :nilly: I already have 5 tanks and recieved a call today from an uncle saying he was at a yard sell and they had a 55 gal for $30.00, yes you heard right, complete with hoods and lights. I immediatly loaded my 3 year old and took off to check this out. I get there and it is as stated also had an Aqua clear 300 (that's a 70 gal) still in box with it. HIPPPPPEEEEEEE!!!!!!! :grinno: So I bought the tank and immediatly left to the fish store, to see what's available. In the back of my mind I thought about a clown loach colony with some simple cchlids, to my amazement they had only one loach. He started moving the decor to get him out and when he did come out WHOA MOMMA, he is below about 6". So what are your opinions? whta is a good setup with about 7 loaches. Also include substrate and vegitation. I will be using the Aqua clear 300 (DUHHH) :screwy: and get another one or a fluval 305. So here's your chance spend my money :grinno:
Nice pick up for $30. I bet EWURM could give you some good pointers?

Oh, the loach was for my 120 gal not the new one. It is not even set-up yet. That's why I'm trying to get ideas for the new tank.

Not a real fan of Discus when I bought my 120 gal the owner had a bunch of Discus in there that she said could go with tank, but I told her to keep them.

As I stated I am an addict I will definatly spend that much and muchhhhhh more before it's over.
Thanks for all the comments so far not sure I've found a true fire route yet. I'm considering maybe a bare-bottom tank never done one before, but not deffinate yet. Keep the posts comin.

Here is what I'm thinking what are your opinions?
6 x Clown Loaches
3 x Angelicus Botia Loach
2 x Double Full Red Cockatoo Cichlid
2 x Silver Dollars
2 x Chinese Algae Eater
4 x Praecox Rainbow

The setup should be fine, but you'll need to upgrade as the loaches and silver dollars get larger.

The dollars are already 4 in and when the loaches get large enough they'll go in my 120 gal.

Sounds good to me!
With upgrade plans, the list sounds good.

I'd get a senegal bichir for the 55 gallon. It can house the bichir for life. If you get the bichir at 2-3 inches, you can put a school of loaches with it along with some angelfish and gouramis. The angelfish, bichir and gouramis can stay in there for life while the loaches go into your 120 gallon when they get larger.
