"Try to get the picture. This is the most aggressive fish in my country, it bites what ever is introduced in the aquarium including siphon hoses , 2 workers in Japan got injured ( bitten ) just taking them out of the bags , it sits there looking at you like a guard dog and when you get near the aquarium it opens its gills like a betta fighting fish and then strikes , We have to put 15 kilos ( 30 puonds ) of weight on the aquarium covers so they don’t wind up on the floor. We have them up to 70 cm. long which is around 8 to 12 pounds of pure muscle and teeth. They are the pitbulls of fish. I have never seen something so aggressive and bad tempered !

Check around. I think there is only 1 true hoplias aimaras in the states which was 1 of a batch I sent to Japan that was reshipped to the usa ( that one must of cost the guy in the states around $5000 minimum ). This is not hoplias macrofthalmus, in its genes it has the ability to grow up to 30 pounds in weight. "

can you even keep them in a glass tank? doesnt seem like it would be safe.

redtrailfool - you have seen this fish in person? seems like they are extremely rare. i was just thinking it would break glass unless it was really thick, since it seems to strick at anything that moves . . .but what do i know
