:cry:Well it seems that my aro has jumped hard enough to rupture his swim bladder.

He is breathing normal but his head is at the bottom of the tank and his tail is at the top. Not good . I am thinking of putting him down but wanted some advice from the MFK pro's first

any help would be great

thanks in advance

mike

Is the head really down, or you just notice that it has a buyoancy problem, with the tail having a tendency to come up?

I am going to have this moved to the aro su forum, anyway.

Sorry to say, but a headstand is one of the worst things you can see your aro do. :(

Please try to add salt to the water ( 2 spoons per 5 gallons ) and increase temps and oxigenation.

Dont bother, ive never seen any aros recover after doing the "headstand" its almost a 99% chance that there going to die... sorry bro, best of luck.

this is the hated swim bladder problem
but try your best
switch of the lights of the tank
try to keep the tank as clam as possible
don't feed for a few days
remove any tankmates
and cover up the tank so that he isn't spooked

Hold on... don't put him down yet. Mine jumped out when he was about 16", landed 5' below on hard tile and sat there in the middle of the night for quite a while until the dog woke me up. He was almost dry and barely breathing when I put him back in. He did the headstand for about 1-2 days and then slowly came out of it. It was about 3 weeks before he ate again, but he survived. Just let him be.
