pacus are not cichlids, for your information.

i had 3 some years back, they suffocated during a power outtage. I didn't really like them, they were ugly swimming stomachs. Eat and eat and eat is all they did. Would rather have had redbelly piranhas, since piranhas look alot nicer.

I have one about 5-6 lbs. For a while he was all I had in a large pond. I think he has a ton of personality and swims over when he sees people. I also think he is attractive, he has like a 2-tone grey pattern. Anyways, planning to get one or two more to join him.

I use to have several very nice ones with lots of red. I also had a couple of true black pacus. They're fun to keep but they grow way too fast and break stuff.

Yes...pacus grow too fast..clumsy and feast just about on anything..this is why i keep mine in a bare tank with other monsters...

ok i think that they arent ugly, maybe in color but the the way they look make them pretty to me i would love to own a bunch of these full grown monsters in a big a$$ tank, it must be an awsome sight.

he survived harassment from 3 oscars and 3 FH

anyway..one of the tank mate (my big old Red Tail Golden Arowana) snapped suddently and start chasin this pacu ard...got quite a few scratches on the pacu's body now...

will need to supervise and hope this dun go too bad..

starnge thing thou, they seemed so comfortable in e lfs' confined tank such that they behave like sissies in their big tank? i'm not too sure y either... but i do agree they eat basically anything! even live feeders that r bigger than them!

Yes..most of the time, they just mind their own business..but they can become very messed up during feeding times..they just get too excited and start basing everywhere...

most of the pacus i owned are pretty ok..but had one that got this passion for chewing hard fins off other fishes..that one, I have to get rid of it.. :swear:

I do not like baby black pacus. They are hyper. I like ADULT BLACK PACUS..the dark ones, they remind me of Saltwater Sunfish...big...Dumb....and FEEDING
