I'm not soliciting or planning to get one, but I have a few questions about a specific asian aro...

http://i217.photobucket.com/albums/cc98/RockyGoldy/P1010266.jpg

this is a pic by one of our international vendors. IMO, it it the sexiest aro I have ever seen. What type is it? Red? Are there blue-base reds? Is it a hybrid? What grade is it, and how much would one run for? Purely speculative of course :)

That is a Purple Base Super Red. There are many kind variety of Super Red and the price also differ from each kind of SR.

SR doesn't necessarily have all red color, there are a purple base SR, Golden SR, Green base SR, Red base SR with 1st rim blue color, and etc.

dependant on the age of the fish , length , size , defects etc. cant be certain how much that fish would cost , but it does have a very nice shine , i'd speculate about 9-10 k sing dollars.

Basically it's all depend on how much the vendor is retailing their red and how willing the buyers are to fork out.

But as the picture shown kinda red, I did sell to overseas hobbyists at SGD$5.5k before.:)

I have seen Asian Aro for sale here...And I could keep Asians if I wanted to, but it is my thinking, that every dollar spent in the black market, would be just that much further to get them legally...I just hope I live to see the day of Legal Asian Arowana in the US...

I know what you mean, and I agree. Plus, I think of the legal aspect. The chances of me getting caught are small, but I'm not putting myself and my future and family at risk for a fish. No matter how beautiful. I am dead serious when I say I'm not looking to purchase any. Just curiousity :)

Nice Green base SR u got there. Although the green for me seems to be PS a bit (not natural looking).

Btw, if arowana has an ITL (the scale on the back form a straight line) the price can be sky rocketing which is rare. In asia ITL arowana consider bringing a smooth fortune.

not mine. i can't have one in the US. In your opinion, which is the best looking arowana

But i see a serius problem if they would be legal in US.. USA is a huge country with a huge demand/market för expensive fishes like this. I think they would more or less buy all the aros thats bein breed in asia so it would be hard for everyone else yo get them anymore.. Ok the farms might expand but still it would take years to expand and build new ponds.. So i think its good for ppl in EU that its not legal.. But i understand ur feelings about it.

Opening the US market for Asian Arowanas would do the Aro industry good. When it first happens, there might be a short supply, but that influx of money would allow the farms to expand to meet the demand. The more money that is dumped into the industry, will bring the prices down for everyybody...I don't see why more money isn't being put into the legalization of Asian Aros in the US now... It can only be more and better Aros for everybody...
