Decided to take some pics of this guy today. He is not easy to photograph, always moving around and when I turned the light on and started bugging him with the camera, he became excited. His color changes all the time, sometimes really light and as you can see in these pics sometimes quite a barred pattern. the red tint is very nice, and his eyes have become very bright red. I love the body structure of this fish! He is now located in a 75g tank, and only really interested in Massivore Delite and Hikari Gold.

figured it would be interesting and funny to see just how much re-arranging of the tank this fish does.
Nice one! Merry Midas and a happy more growth. lol.

nice man, this is the only fish I've debated whether or not to order from Rapps.
how is this fish different from a barred midas or a chancho? i've never really understood what makes them different...?

amphilophus are tough to tell a part, my saggitaes could pass off as barred midas to most of the users on this site, as could chancho's and a few others amphiliphus sp. but from what I have seen the red isletas all have nice red eyes, shorter bodies, and monsterous humps. I honestly have yet to see a ugly one posted. They are all great looking fish.
