Thankyou Mfk. I truely thought that more than half the entries were quite impressive, and i'm honoured to have by photo chosen as the winner. I received several messages starting the day voting started inquiring details about the tank. I'll share some info on the tank sometime soon, but I work at a bar and a LFS so my night (tonight) and next two nights will be exhausting.

Again thanks to MFK, the prize donor, and all who entered and voted. I wait anxiously to see what the next TOTM brings.

I wrote up a faily long description without saving it and lost. I'll be detailed but more precise.

The tank is an oak trimed Oceanic 215 Gallon tank with Oak stand. It measures 6x2x2.5'. I received it used, from my previous employer at no cost (though under unfortunate circomstances). Originally the tank was headed towards an amazon biotope with Altum Angels as the main feature. Before I had any substantial livestock added I had an opportunity to acquire a very impressing colony of Frontosa from somone leaving for school. The group included 9 (7 Wild Caught, 2 Captive Bred) Zaire Blue Moba Frontosa. The larger 7 wild caughts ranged from 5" to 13". The largest male and female must be quite old, though they still show an energetic vigor. I have enormous respect the large wild Alpha male. He is truely a King of the Tanganyikan depths. I felt a need to provide them with an environment that would make them have the most natural feel you could get in a tank this size.

The tank contains;

A Deep sandbed of 200 lbs Silica Sand &
40 lbs on finely Crushed Argonite
400 lbs of Kingston Weatherd Stone
Some Driftood on Slate

It is Filtered by Two Fluval 405w and one Fluval Fx5.

Although for the photo in the contest shows it lit with a 36" Coralife T5 Aqualight Double. One 10,000K and one Actinic. However i only use the Actinic light when not photographing. The light only spans the middle 3 feet of the tank giving light falloff in the two sides. Its also very low wattage for this size tank.

I usually have some pots and tubes inside to add to the amount of caves they have made. I have had them for 10 months but no breeding yet, nor yawning. I feel a bit guilty for not having fry to contribute to the local populations and bloodlines. But they will likely breed when they are ready and no sooner.

For 5 months the tank served as a headboard to my bed. The bed is on the opposite wall now to give them a bit more privacy.

Thanks again. Please post photos of the tanks you made with this as inspiration- though i took the plans for this one from what I beleive their wild habitat might resemble..
