Hi there,

i'd like to introduce two of my favorites:

Protopterus annectens (~70cm)

same dude, feeding on a grapevine snail:

I keep him since March 2006 then had a length of around 45cm. He growed very quick, think it's related to the lots of food he got. By now he gets less.
He feeds on bloodworm, snails, shrimps, macrobrachium sp., live fish and so on.

Here some pic of my juvenile Protopterus aethiopicus (~25cm)
(THX again to Pascal Palle Pallestopheles)

That's one nice P.A. I'm realy curious on how it will turn out to be...It would be nice if you could keep us updated on it's progress.
Maybe I'm totally off but it kind of looks like a protopterus Aethiopicus Aethiopicus
But individuals all look rather different so it could as well be a Congicus.
But some how when I look at the place the anal fin starts it kind of looks like a P.A.A.
And most congicus I have seen have a slight different pattern to it at this size.
If so be aware it will grow real fast and rather big.
Keep us updated.

I see yours also has this green spot on it's head...
Have seen this before at MFK on a Aethiopicus. (interesting)

Hi!

Wow, that first one is truly a beautiful specimen. He's really into that snail lol!

Most of the time he takes them up in one whole and crushes them...

Hi Liz!

THX for your welcomes!

The pics mostly are taken by my girlfriend. She is really enjoying it - the pics show it, i think.

Protopterus? I've got only the two of them...
But there are more than 40 Tanks around here - from Channa (C. melasoma, C. asiatica, C. pulchra, C. gachua, Parachanna obscura, C. marulioides) to Gar, lots of Labyrints (Betta splendens and wild forms), Bushfishes (Microctenopoma & Sandelia)...

Starting an indoor pool project soon and lookin forward to open my Aq-Shop next spring.

Thanks for the promp response mensh. What else is in the daily diet of the small lung? I'm picking up a juvenile SAL (8") and am open to suggestions.
