Been sitting on these awhile decided to post a few pics and a video.
The video isn't anything major just showing them very active in the tank.

interesting pike
Those are one of my favorite species.
How big is the tank? I thought pikes usually didn't do well together.

That is the weird thing. Neither one carries the pronounced white band
in the dorsal, which would indicate female.
But neither have the body striations which would indicate male.
So I have just been assuming they are both males because neither
is showing a red abdomen.
All I know is that they get along great. They stick to eachothers side like
they are a bonded pair.
Or else I have a pair of Ellen Degeneres or Clay Aikens.
The tank is a 6'x2'x2' 150. As for as keeping groups. I personally have had
decent luck doing so. I kept a trio of them together up 9-11" untill end of
this summer but lost the Trom Marm, gave away the X1 and my female Jo was
killed when I tried to introduce her to a very large Male. Who is waiting to be
picked up next month.
I currently a trio 8" Rio Tapajos Marms in a 125 which are getting along
quite nicely. Hoping one of the females will pair up with the male.
I definitely would not recommend anyone else to do so. Things get ugly fast.
Thanks everyone

Nothing over 5-6 inches. Usually smaller. I always introduce them with other types of cichlids into a new setup so their aggro isn't focused on eachother.

Dayum! That's a great tank with some super fish! Do you do anything special with the water?

No, straight out of the tap. Dechlorinated of course.:)

I know with my female she did not show the strongly pronounced white dorsal stripe until she was quite large. It was there but very faint. Give them time. Eventually it will become apparent.
Regarding the body striation on males; I noticed that they were most pronounced between the 6"-12" size but pretty much disapeared after this. It is a reliable indicator of sex but seems to go away as the fish completely matures.
fish and tank look great! do you use imperial gallons in missouri?;)

They are both at 11-12 inches and apprx 3 years old. So I figured if one
was going to show female it would have already. I sent a few pics to Vin
Kutty and he agreed that both were males.
He also said as for as them getting along so well that it is not uncommon
that siblings to get along even if both males. But I would think
that would change if I could find a female of the same variant.
