if you were to get mine when I got it and yours now and were to mix them around .. you won't know which was which..
mine lightened a tad I am interested if yours has so far too..
also..
how'd you get yours on dead food..
I've been "fishing" in the tank with thread and krill.. it'll hit him on the nose and he sits there..
I could put it in his mouth and he wouldn't be interested..

i wish i could find the video, i think i deleted it though. what i did was take a piece of thawed market shrimp, i put it in front of his face and "attacked" him with it. which consisted of pushing it in his face and pulling it back, i did it about 6 or 7 times then he just went nuts on it.

so... this was when it was buried?
I tried that a tad but krill isn't really that heavy...
I've had mine flailing in the output of my filter.
I made a puffer goody bag as I call it..
I mixed a table spoon of garlic a TON of krill and a few silver sides in a bad got them all mixed up into the most pungent thing known to man..
I hope it works I'll try the attack thing right now! thanks for the advice..
after that one attack did he start eating dead or did you have to repeat it a few times?

omg ha so I tried it he started to get flustered.. and stick his mouth out after bump 3...
after that he took a chunk and was like.. oh this is food.. and than he came out of hiding and chased it around.. :)
man I've been working on that for like 2 days!!! WOW ha nice advise !!

half of the bites he took he spit out though.. so now I have partial krill parts all over my tank..
atleast!!! he is eating
I just hope my ghost shrimp and my last remaining fish clean up a tad ha

mine love ghost shrimp, and i did the "force" feeding when he wasnt buried. he ate about half a piece of market shrimp then just let it go, lol.

yeah thats what mind did.. but I used krill and it just spit it all over for the most part ha.

how long did it take you to get him on frozen?

Be sure to clean up after him or your going to have big problems with the water quality. Krill is not a good staple food.

yeah, ive never tried krill, i stick to market shrimp, alot of protein. and i also dont feed mine everyday. my congos get feed about 3 times a week, and thats with ghost shrimp in the tank. they eat like one of those every couple of days, my fahaka is getting feed every other day now.

i just got some frozen shell of shrimp..
like 13 bucks worth so it better like them..

make sure you dont thaw them in the microwave. it loses a lot of nutrients, and also deshell and tail them

I leave the shell & tail on. Good for their teeth. Defrost in tank water with a good liquid fish vitamin.

well they were the large ones... and I put a piece in tail and shell in the tank overflow today..
after trying to "attack" him with it.. no dice. :(

i think you trying to often. i put about 5 ghost shrimp in each congo tank, they last for a few days normally. then ill try the shrimp. works for me.

he went for the shrimp pretty good .. he didn't care too much.. he was just .. curious.. and than I pulled it away like a fishing lure.. and he went for it like mad. didn't realized how big they can open their mouth.

220 is pretty large
your wallet is going to HATE you...

yeah before I fed ol' boser.
I put my finger in and wiggled it.. he really did almost bite it till I yanked it out.. ha
mine is CONSTANTLY swimming... I thought it'd be buried like.. 23 hours a day..
its out almost all day long and part of the night
good luck with the 220..
get some dragonettes :)

i think the dead food idea finally got to him I was out last night and he missed a meal..
I came back and set a shrimp on the glass top of the tank to thaw before I threw it in..
he has been circling around the top of the tank where it is looking at it :)

they are a blast once you start getting into them. their personalities are ridiculous. my little fahaka knows when its time to eat, he'll start looking at me, then he'll start swimming with his face pressed against the glass, lol.
