My LFS had to change their store credit policy - now instead of having my credit build up while I slowly unload my least favorite fish so I can save up to get a big stand and/or tank next spring, I have 30 days to spend $205.00 and it has to be on fish.

I'm trying to get RID of fish right now to make room for baby stuff so this was NOT part of my plan. Obviously, that money could buy a very nice poly. Since buying fish isn't on my agenda, I definitely want to spend it on ONE fish. It needs to be between 8 and 12'' long - and preferrably a lower jaw. So... what should I get? And does anyone know what this "Koloton" is on Toyin's list?

Theres laps pretty sure there just from the Koloton river or something they look pretty cool though

Can you spend your LFS credit outside the LFS ??? That would be shocking but i would buy a really nice poly of course :) mabye an ansorgii

I may get another Ans, but I already have one. Not sure yet. I love endlis but your average basic endli at that size would run no more than $100, which leaves me with another $100 to spend. I really don't have the room to get 2 fish - the tank would be too full.

Do the Kolotons look much different than a normal Lap?

the 'koloton' was actually sold as and with 'koliba' for a long time. It was only relatively recently that Toyin learned from his supplier that some of the 'koliba' were actually collected at a different spot (though I think the two places are geographically nearby). Anyway supposedly the 'koloton' has stronger contrast and slightly different arrangement of patterns than koliba, but the distinction isn't that great. I still basically consider them the same for all practical purposes.

Thanks Inf :) I won't get one then lol One Koliba (or look a like) is enough - if it was one of our favorite species then maayyybe but no.

no problem. he has posted a pic before in one of his availability thread if you wanna see.

That sucks having to spend it all on fish only in 30 days. just get $200 worth of guppies. lol thats a lot of guppies.

stock up on food, prime, and other supplies :)

Unfortunately the policy changed to where your credit must be used on fish. I guess their accountant told them they were going to have to pay taxes on over 1/4mil on customer credit, and so they made the changes to prevent people from building up their credit to make big ticket purchases like massive tanks and stands.

Toyin has small Ansorgii in stock - anyone know what the price is on those these days? I bought one of the first he brought in, and I doubt they are still over $500 now.

What happens after thirty days?

The whole situation sounds fishy. I know around here that would be against the law to do.

You should at least be grandfathered in since you had the credit before the policy change. I would talk to the manager/owner again to see if you can work out a deal for your specific case.
