My namesake, I got him January 2007 at around 2.5-3". For reference that is an ac110 that he dwarfs.

He did great until about 10-12", even with edible sized tankmates, then he got more space to himself and from then on everything else is just swimming food.

Yeh i love it, great looking fish. Refreshing change to see something different other than the usual RTC, TSN, and all the hybrid's in between.
Keep us updated on it. ;)

Thanks guys, I moved the TSN out of there when the ARTC started banging on the divider last night.

OMFG that artc is a real beast
how come he is not hiding and cruising around the tank all proud
and he is quite huge and fat too, unlike mine, who is quite thin as he eats once in a while and is more focussed on terrorising the pleco in his tank

a few of the pics where he is in full glory is a treat to the eyes, how did ya get him to pose for you

great fish and great pics
haven't been online much thats the reason i have missed such a great thread :irked:

Well, the divider was no match for him, and the hybrid was a target. I pulled the Hybrid out and gave him his own tank again. This guy now has the whole 6 ft tank to himself. He hates the heater, and spends time banging it around. I put it in the corner behind the divider and piled rocks next to it and so far he hasn't figured out how to get to it again.

he is quite huge and fat tooHe hasn't settled into a good eating pattern in this new tank yet, but as of last week(In his old tank) he was eating 12-15 Massivore pellets per day, sometimes more. Also shrimp tails and nightcrawlers.

does he attack your hand? Glass bang?

Well, I give him plenty of space. When I drop his food in he usually hits the surface of the water so hard with a sucking motion that it makes a loud pop. It's enough to keep my fingers back. I do pet him from time to time as he swims past my hand while I'm doing tank maintenance, but I stay away from his mouth.
