Ive caught jags, uros, oscars, tilipia and peacock bass in florida. I used Jigheads and mister twister tails to catch them along with some mepps spinners. others used crankbaits diveing lures. buzzbaits small rapalas suposed to work good.
heres the peavcock bass i caught

oscars are pound for pound way better fighters than any other fish i have ever caught in a fl canal except for tarpon. those uros are really annoying though :swear: . always gettin in the way of everything.

If any one is in the Northern Virginia Area. Snake Head fishing is pretty hot at Great Falls in the McLean Area.

I'd imagine anywhere that stays relatively warm throughout most of the year (the South, parts of Texas, and here in AZ) have good populations of cichlids in local lakes. I have customers come in to my Petsmart all the time buying feeders for giant Peacock Bass they catch in the lakes just outside of Phoenix.

Where in FL would be the best place to fish for cichlids? I think it would be so cool to catch one, even if I couldn't keep it.
