my first goldfish i ever had i got him from a bait shop and he was 2" and was orange body with a white nose and fins he didnt have a name for several months untill i put him into a 29 gallon tank with several snails in it and in one day he ate around 20 snails and thus he earned the name "the snailinator" i put him into a 30 gallon pond but he died when the pump gave out while i was on vacation in florida and he died...

gar man, after all the threads you've posted that just end up being flame wars, your going to have to seriously reconsider things. It's hard to build up trust after wasting valuable cookies or bandwidth or whatever.Anyway,I will give you the benefit of the doubt and say you can do it.

Your welcome!I think your cool, just be honest! And dbz,I think he asked we NOT flame his thread.Let's respect that.Anyway,I have had a few variations of goldfish, plus koi/grass carp. All are very personable fish too.I had one that would "chase" a red pointer light a while back.Cool fish, people just need to give them more space than reccomended
gar man
11-03-2008, 8:16 PM
my old goldfish the snailinator used to chase my finger when i would drag it across the aquarium.
Nanoreefer
11-03-2008, 8:25 PM
That's cool.People underestimate goldfish.I like them. They are fun to have.I could handfeed my koi/goldfish.The koi had slimy mouths!

I have a 120 gallon tank, and about 15 goldfish. Orandas, Moores, Ryukins, Lion Heads and a Comet or two. I always want to get more, but I dont want to overload my tank.

Holy feeder, Batman!!! You have some beauties there. That first one is a pig, I mean crap, it could feed a family of four. Great looking fish. You breed 'em?
ichthius
12-06-2008, 9:35 PM
I'm trying to limit my breeding to the heirloom fish that are at risk of extinction like the Philadelphia vieltail, bristol shubunkin, line bred ranchu, Blue Egg Phoenix (just got them!) but my other area of interest in getting fancies back into out door ponds. There are fancies that do just fine in all these "koi ponds" people squeeze in their back yards.
That's not a koi pond but it would be a great goldfish pond...
What do you keep?

12-07-2008, 2:59 PM
If they have ich and you can salt your tank (ie no plants or salt sensitive fish) that will kill the ich.
The dose is one tablespoon (3 teaspoons per gallon). When the ich moves off the fish as part of it's life cycle they will die in the salt.
