As I'd like this filter on my 4ft 200l tank which I'm currently looking to setup. I'm doing all my research first as I do not want to make any mistakes this time round?

:WHOA: Thanks stotty, looks like I'll be cancelling that order then. I think I'll stay with Eheim.

What would you recommend for a 200l tank?

I'm not going to be keeping a lot of plants or any special specific fish more like rams and clowns and a few odds and ends. Mind you I've always fancied keeping an Oscer or two.......

Choices choices what is one to do....?

I like Eheim fiters my self if you get the Eheim 2028 Professional II Filter that would do but if you spend a bit more get the Eheim 2128 Professional II Freshwater Thermo for tanks of For Tank litre/gal: 600/132 and has 210w heater inside it . Retails £302.95 but can get it for £175 from these people they are good.The only problem with this is the heater is powered by a separate power lead that goes into the canister you have to unplug the heater when cleaning it.

get an eheim classic, 2215 or 2217 depending on your stocking level.

They are great filters, they have the intake at the bottom, so no bypassing of media.

I really wouldnt worry about what was posted on that thread regarding the FX5.
here in the states they are selling like crazy, none of the LFS can keep them in stock. One store is selling 10 to 15 per week with no complaints...you can get them for under $300. hard to beat regarding performance & specs

I have one, it works better than expected and no leaks :ROFL: and its on a 220 gallon

it doesn't have enough media for the flowrate anyway, what's the point in pushing around that amount of water without the large media capacity to utilize it?

My fluval 404 also clogged MUCH easier than the eheims, as does the internal fluval 4.

I'm betting this fx5 is the same, stick with eheim, you won't regret it.

:iagree: I have 4 eheims they do the job spot on I know the fx5 is selling well my mates shop is selling them but he has had a few problems and I looked hard into it when I wanted a new filter hens I had the web site. I bought an eheim bucket second hand of eBay cost me 1/2 price and was nearly new. The water is spot on :thumbsup:

just to give you an idea the other suggestions are great this is excessive but thats me on a 90g pleco tank i'm using a eheim wet dry canistor cant rember the model 2229or something a eheim pro 2 a magnum 250 hob a 900gph power head a 25w internal uv with power head the nice thing is i never have to worry about a filter breaking always have a back up while i fix the broken one.

The Eheim 2260 pumps 1900lph The 2217 pumps out 1000l/h nearly 2x its a monster. Works realy well i have had loads of filter and have just found Eheims the best, take them apart put them back, don't leak the only thing with the 2260 is its huge but as all my tanks are in a fish room not a problem. :thumbsup: That bastard could be me :naughty:
