FYI - If you plan on making something really elaborate and professional looking, I would HIGHLY suggest that you send in several pictures of the cake during various stages of your creative process, otherwise the MFK staff will have to vote/discuss whether or not your simply bought the creation....

For support yes. Extra non edible decor is acceptable but the product itself whether it be cookies, cupcakes, or cakes should be 99% cake with 1% added frosting, non edible decor, etc.

No I just made a cool cake for my b-day and everyone thought it looked really good and it came out pretty good for being my first homeade decorated cake. Then for this contest (plus had to bake a cake for work and we have fish where I work) I took some cake mix and made a cake and molded this one into something this time and it happened to go pretty well and I thought it looked better then the picture I found online of what I wanted to do. Not sure if I will wipe floor with anyone but I thought I did a pretty good job for what it is and no real experience other then throwing it in the oven and playing with frosting haha :D
