Very good looking setup. My only issue is with keeping Frontosas mixed with Malawis. That tank has an Mbuna rockwork, not suitable in the least for frontosas, not to mention their different dietary requirements.

I agree with this statement. Although not about the feeding they can be fed the same diet as long as its something like NLS. But I would think that the Frontosa will get beat up by that others. I am not one to complain tho. I mix lakes all the time. Its just a matter of removing anyone that becomes aggressive. Just my opinions.
The tank looks incredible I am a very big fan of slate I just posted some pics of my 110xh on the I am new section.

I agree with not mixing Malawis with frontosas. The malawis are more agressive and will nip the frontosas. The malawis will stress them out. Also the slate rocks are too sharp for frontosas, since they are very skiddish. The diet is not an issue. Both have the same diet, NLS and ocassional bloodworms, brine/mysis shrimp and some veggies are fine.

nice looking tank, but the rockwork isn't good for fronts.
Thanks for all the coments guys it's my first real setup so i think it has come up good:) As for the fronts with the mbuna haven't had a problem in the slightest no aggression issues the fronts swim happly throughout the tank, they have there own areas and sit in there own caves so i dont see any problems. In fact the fronts have put on the most size compared to the others and are almost first to the food so i dont see them being too stressed.

If its working for you then you shouldnt change anything. Nice setup either way. You have an insane rock setup....:grinno:

I agree, I keep Fronts with mbuna too & there is no problem.
Unfortunately a lot of the time people read a statement about not mixing fish & take it as one of their beliefs without having any experience to back it up.
I'm not saying everyone should mix fish from all lakes.
But if you know what you're doing it can be done.
I have Frontosa, Mbuna, Tropheus, Haps & Peacocks in the same tank. All of them are breeding.
Again - great tank!
Looks like you have a few male Fryeri - any aggression issues amongst them?

So true so true i think if the tank is big enough and done well it can be done without problems just because some book or forums say you cant i belive it is not always the case. Yes have some male fryei 5 in fact they get along with everyone, really only bother themselves and then it is only some chasing havent lost any finnage or anything like that on any of my fish....:)

You have fronts breeding? Do you have pictures of the setup you have mentioned here? I would like to see a mix like this. I am willing to bet, that most people in this section with any real time on the board have the experience of mixing fish to give sound advice on it.

As you have stated this is your first real setup and you feel by this setup you have gained all the knowledge necesary to decided whether these books and forums are all wrong.
I am all about pushing the new ideas and providing cutting edge information, but unless this setup has been up for a few years, and your fish have all reached sexually maturity, I would not stamp it as a total success. There are many reason for not mixing lakes. Do I mix, yes I do. However there are some limits to what you can mix successfully over and over. There is always a setup that will prove all "Rules" wrong, but does this mean we should all run out and do it? No of course not. Each fish is different, and it takes time. I have pulled countless nice show quality fish and sold them because they were too much for their tank mates. Before we start discounting the opinions and information shared in this thread give it sometime.
You have yet to provide a full stocking list. So we have no clue what is in your tank besides some fronts and an electric blue you have just mentioned. Before touting your superior skills and how we are wrong share some more information with us. We would all love to learn a little more and see others people experiences.
I don't want to turn Stu's thread about his stunning tank into a do's and don’t's thread but
there's a video of my tank near the end of the thread here:
http://www.monsterfishkeepers.com/forums/showthread.php?t=138398 (http://www.monsterfishkeepers.com/forums/showthread.php?t=138398)
At the moment in this tank there are holding Tropheus & mbuna.
Re: the Fronts breeding, I've had two females for about a year and a half & recently was given a male for free
(that was misidentified as a female).
Within a month of introducing the male one of the females was holding.
She didn't hold to term (which is normal for Frontosa the first few times they breed).
It caught me off guard when they bred & I wasn't prepared but next time the female will be moved to a tank by herself once I see her holding eggs.
I think the important thing to mention once again, is that you need to know what you are doing when you are mixing fish from different lakes.
Nobody wants to risk harm to their fish, but if you do your research & provide appropriate conditions it is certainly possible to mix certain species and for them to thrive.
Even those mythical species like Tropheus and Frontosa.
Guys i didn't mean for this to turn into a **** fight about what goes with what i'm not saying i know everything far from it all i wanted to do was show people my tank, that is all this combo so far WORKS for me i really dont care what others mix, i have all males and am not interested in breeding. This tanks sits in my lounge room and is there for display only, once again all i this thread was for was to show my tank period.....If people want to back and forth about stocking maybe another thread would be appropriate...

threads are for discussions, your photos sparked a discussion. If it were a simple show my pictures we have a photo lounge and threads for showing off your pictures.
I was again stating that your experience can be something for us all to learn from. All male tanks are terrific, I and many other have them and like them. I was hoping you would follow with your stocking list. A show my pictures thread is fine and dandy, but your stock list would really help turn the thread into something we can all learn from.

I agree with Mike, threads are for discussion, and the discussion is relating directly to your tank/stock list. Discussion like this gives others a chance to read about the views/ knowledge of others.
Your tank is very nice though :) and i also currently have a mixed african tank thats been working ok so far.
