RBP's have a major under bite sort of like a bulldog and their lower lip is more swollen

at very young ages, like said, piranha's lower jaw is very muscular-- bull-dog-like-- while pacu's bottom jaw is much more slender
at 5" or more, its easy to tell apart because piranhas look like piranhas, and pacu look like a piranha's body with a godawfully ugly head attached

The mouth that is proberbly the only way the Piranha has a more thicker lower lip which extends out more than it's top one.
The Pacu has a really small mouth it does have teeth but not for ripping or cutting but for grinding down vegitation.

see the jaw difference and also look at the tail
the balck stripes on a piranha is in the inner part while the black part in a pacu is in the outer part of the tail

Yup! look at the mouth.. no overbite
the difference is pacus are BIG MOFOS THAT NEVER STOP EATING and eat everything and get way huge and petco tells you they max out at 10 inch. :screwy::screwy:
