I recently purchased 2 small new guinea dats and they are great! Just they are definitely more territiorial than the rest. I plan on doing an asian style tank with like 12 dats, my korean perch and my FRT. i hope the NGTs dont disturb the rest of the tank.

didn't get any of the ngts yet
that sounds like a awesome tank. 12 dats will make any tank look good.

Nothing is ever an absolute but you might want to either heavily decorate the tank or add more New Guinea Dats because usually they will kill each other if there are just 2 or 3 in the tank.
Good luck with your setup.

I'm new here and was wondering how many different variations of Datnoids are there? I currently own Two of them. They are about the 4 inches.

I'm not exactly sure which ones I have then. One is very dark colored and the other is a golden brown. Both dont have very distinguished stripes like others that I see in everyones pics. I will try and upload some pics of them soon.

The second pic is how my dat looks since I got him 6 months ago. Today while giving him a crayfish he looked like this. I've never seen him look like this before. Any idea what type he is?
