Got my first Birchir on Sunday a 10 inch weeksii with very dark markings he looks very handsome.
I have already been a rope fish owner for around 6 months I had 4 of them.

Anyway he settled in very well and I completely redesigned my whole tank to make it more birchir friendly.

At the time of picking him up I had the choice of two weeksii and one Endlicheri and i picked the best patterned Weesii .

Ever since I got him I had been mulling over the other weeksii and the endli as he seemed very friendly.

The long and the short of it is that i went back to get the other weeksii and was given such a good deal on the endli that i got him too .

On my arival back home I was shocked to find one of my ropes in the middle of the floor looking very dried up and stiff I got him going again by dipping him in the tank and lifting him out till he started to move I then put him in jug that I floated in the tank he came round but seemed to have damaged his swim bladder and hung upside down for a while then swam around badly at the top of the tank for the next hour untill he died.
At least it was not my favorite (pinkie)

This was not the only bad thing that happend when I opened up the box I had bought the new fish in and after measuring them I decided to transfere them into bags to float in the tank or would have done if the endli didn't jump out onto the floor .
I never knew they were so slippery and could not pick him up and he jumped out my hands twice more before I got him into the tank in a jug.

He seems to have recoverd well and has been checking out the tank that I have had to do some more mods to as he is huge and from now on will be called monster at a full 12.5 inches (not bad for£5)

The other Weesii (friendly )I would like identifieing as it was 9 inches long but its body shape is much streamlined than the other weeksii for its length.
It has the same eyes and is similar to the other but only has pattern towards the back end i would say it has not got much of a fat head for its size in comparison with the other one now called lazy .
This one is not much of a hidder compared to the other two and stayed out playing with my remaining ropes .
These are there photos I have not got any decent ones of my first weeksii (lazy)

I think that my endli could be a)obese and b) a endlicheri congicus after looking at some pictures the previous owner had him 4 years and says he is a big eater .
is 12.5 inches in 4 years a sign ?

Your one weeksi looks like a palmas polli?

sorry about the ropefish :(

to answer your questions. Your endli is an endli (i.e. P. endlicheri endlicheri).
The other bichir in the pics is a retropinnis.

Cool I have three different species now .
It's funny but the retro and the endli hang around together allot of the time so far,
despite the size difference .
My weeksii seems to have found a spot he likes in my tank and so far is not doing much but I can still see him with my torch to check up on him (I have Raphael and driftwood cats so used to nocturnal fish).
Thanks for the id I will post picks of my weeksii when he comes out to have his picture taken but I am in no doubt about him ,much wider body and fatter head than the retro.
