I have a 55g with 2 Delhezi and a BGK. I had some Swordtails, but one of the Delz got big enough to make a meal out of them one by one. So it's pretty empty now. I've thought of Angels, a Pearl Gourami, Tiger Barbs, Tinfoil Barbs, Silver Dollars, and Red Hooks. Even some Cichlids. Pretty much, I want an active fish or school in there. Maybe a solidary fish that will swim around...doesn't have to be a school. What do you guys think would be a good mix with the Delz and BGK?

just get a smaller south american cichlid, something like festivums, which have some of the elegance of angelfish, but seen a little less

i like pearl gourami but they wont move around much. tiger barbs will get eaten i think if a swordtail was. congo tetras would e nice and they get a bit larger than most tetras :)

Festivums is an idea, but like you said...not seen much.

I had some Congo Tetras before...very nice, but they seem sensitive to me. I had them on 2 separate occasions. I was only able to do 15% water changes with them (I like to do 50%). The one time I decided to do a large water change (happened twice) all of them died off within a week.

What about a Fei Feng?

Seems like those Barbs get a bit big for a 55g and hard to find.

I'm starting to think that I just want one active fish instead of a school to save more cash. Anything active, not too aggressive, and will be ok with Delz and a BGK?

You have a ton of options. Anything solitary I'm thinking you'd stick with cichlids like green terror/other smaller not so aggressive species/etc. Because most smaller characins do better in groups. Like silver dollars, tetras, etc. Of you could do angelfish/discus but know you're trying to be economical. So many options though I don't think I can list them all.

I like the silver dollar idea best though I think..
